RESEARCH STUDY:
Participate in a Research Study on Brain Activity and Depression
We are conducting a research study to better understand brain activity in adults with depression and in healthy adults. This study is observational, meaning no clinical decisions will be made from the data.
Sponsor: Kernel
STUDY OVERVIEW
Kernel is conducting a study at Acacia Clinics with a neuroimaging technology that can non-invasively measure brain activity in real time.
Kernel Flow is a cutting-edge, portable brain scanner using a specific light frequency to measure brain activity (no magnets or radioactivity).
MAIN ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Who can participate?
Adults (18-75) receiving accelerated rTMS treatment for depression at Acacia Clinics
Healthy adults (18-75) with no history of depression (to serve as a comparison group)
WHAT TO EXPECT
What does participation involve?
Patient Cohort: Up to 2 study visits over a period of 6 weeks
Healthy Control Cohort: Up to 4 study visits over a period of 6 weeks
Each study visit will last about 30-60 minutes
Study activities include completing surveys, clinician-administered questionnaires, and a non-invasive brain measurement using Kernel Flow while performing cognitive computer tasks.
Important notes:
For this study, participation is voluntary.
Patient Cohort: There is no payment or compensation for participation
Healthy Control Cohort: Participants will be paid $50 for completing each study visit
Time commitment:
Patient Cohort: Up to 2 hours total across study visits.
Healthy Control Cohort: Up to 2 hours total across study visits
